In a small town the northern Basque region of Spain sits Donostia / San Sebastián, the foodie capital of Europe. Donostia is the Basque name for the city but most people call it San Sebastián. The Basques have an amazing respect for their food and have, through tradition and interest, cultivated an entire town focused on gastronomy.
I wanted to share some photos of the beautiful pintxos (essentially tapas in the north but with more work and love put into them) and other places I ran across. I loved so many of the flavours I tried over the weekend but was surprisingly most struck by an infused water with perfect proportions of ginger and mint. It was a fantastically simple combination I have had before but the balance thins time was remarkable. I can definitely see myself testing it out on some lighter beers.
